YIN YOGA
Yin Yoga is a meditative, slow paced practice that focuses on long-held, passive postures designed to target the deeper connective tissues of the body – fascia, ligaments, tendons, and the energetic pathways linked to internal organs. Unlike dynamic, muscle-driven, yoga styles such as Ashtanga or Vinyasa, Yin Yoga prioritises stillness, mindfulness, and relaxation, allowing for profound physical, mental, and energetic release. It promotes joint mobility, range of movement and a smooth flow of energy throughout the body.
n a typical Yin practise, postures are held for anywhere from two to seven minutes, sometimes even longer. This extended time in each pose encourages deep relaxation, allowing gravity, time and space to do the work instead of muscular effort.
The practise is supported by slow, deep belly breathing and mindfulness, cultivating a meditative state, where both body and mind can soften into a receptive state. As we release into stillness, we activate the parasympathetic nervous system, shifting away from stress and into a state of deep rest and renewal.
