Intuition – a powerful tool

Intuition is a fascinating concept and a powerful tool to make decisions or lead you into the right direction. It refers to the ability to understand or know something without needing explicit reasoning. It’s often described as a “gut feeling” or an instinct. Intuitive insights can be influenced by past experiences and knowledge, even if we’re not consciously aware of it. Everyone is naturally intuitive, but we unfortunately have forgotten to be still and listen to our “gut feelings or instincts”. We have been so programmed to believe what we are told. There is a difference between having the decision “made up in your mind” or “feeling it in your body”. Here are a few helpful insights when looking out for signs.

* Check for synchronicities or meaningful coincidences to get a second opinion on your intuition. Humans have a complex intuitive system, including thoughts and feelings we internally experience that provide us guidance. But you can also receive external intuitive hits – like someone recommending a book on a topic that you have been thinking about or a trip that you have been pondering on booking. I’d like to take the opportunity to share one of my profound experiences from last year:

I was determined to spontaneously fly to Bali to see my family. I had committed to cat sitting, however the owner wouldn’t want anyone else to look after her cat, other than one person who couldn’t make it. I looked at many different ways to still go. After returning from catching up with my friend who helped me plan my way around it, a bus drove by with the ad of a travel insurance and the slogan said “Bali belly?”. By then I had a pretty good feeling that I wasn’t meant to go. When I got home on that same day my son said to me “Mami, look at this guy, he was meant to fly to Bali and now he’s stuck at the airport for one night”. Because I can be a bit standoffish and strong willed, the universe bombarded me with lots of messages to make clear that I wasn’t meant to go!!! So I didn’t.

It is easy to miss all these messages when you race around and don’t pay attention. So my advice is: slow down and pay attention, otherwise the messages that are meant for you won’t reach you.

How often are you annoyed that the traffic lights just turned red and you are running late, you missed the bus or the train or simply lost something? Let me tell you, there are no coincidences. Maybe you would have been involved in an accident if you would have made the traffic lights. Sometimes we lose things because they aren’t meant to be in our possession anymore or we are learning something through that loss too. Remember, the universe orchestrates everything for your highest good. This can of course sometimes be painful too but see it as part of your soul’s growth. Life ebbs and flows, there are highs and lows and we have to learn to ride the waves of life.

* Let’s explore the four main psychic pathways. You might find yourself saying.. oh yes, this one resonates with me.

– Clairaudience is the ability to hear sounds or voices beyond the normal range of human perception. It is often considered a form of extrasensory perception (ESP) and is associated with receiving messages from spiritual beings, the deceased, or higher consciousness.

– Clairvoyance is the ability to gain information about an object, person, location, or event through extrasensory perception. The term literally means “clear seeing” and is often associated with seeing things that are not visible to the normal eye, such as future events, past occurrences, or spiritual entities. People might experience visions, symbols, or images that provide insights beyond ordinary perception. This can include seeing auras, glimpses of the future, or even remote viewing (seeing distant places)

– Claircognizance is a term that is often used in spiritual and psychic communities to describe a type of intuitive knowing or clear knowing. People who have claircognizance claim to have an innate ability to receive information or insights without needing to rely on any physical senses. This can manifest as sudden insights, a deep understanding of situations about events or people without any apparent source. Claircognizance can be cultivated through meditation, mindfulness, and heightened awareness of one’s thoughts and feelings. The ability to make decisions is often based on strong intuition or gut feeling.

– Clairsentience is the ability to perceive or feel information through one’s senses, particularly through emotional or physical sensations. People feel it as an enhanced sensitivity to energies, emotions, or physical states of others, as well as to the environment around them. People who are clairsentient might experience emotional awareness such as picking up on the feelings of others, often without them expressing those emotions verbally. Physical sensations such as symptoms that may relate to someone else’s health or emotional state. Gaining intuitive guidance based on these feelings, which can help in decision-making.

I would like to share how this relates or affects my profession as a Personal Trainer:

I automatically screen my clients intuitively when they arrive. I can feel where they are at and whether something is going on in their life that could potentially have an impact on their exercise performance. I sometimes need to change the session according to where they are at. An example of this would be that one of my client has a highly stressful job and when she arrives at the beach we often start with breath work to calm her nervous system, to ground her and help her “arrive in her body”. We then often continue doing a short meditation by the beach with the waves crashing in the background.

I would like to give you some of my general tips to navigate through life:

  • It is important to slow down. The more you slow down, the better your awareness becomes. You will be able to respond differently and also be able to receive more messages and guidance.
  • It is important that you stay grounded. We often live in our heads and this can be quite overwhelming and can cause a lot of anxiety. You can achieve this by visualization or connecting barefoot to Mother Earth. The more grounded you are, the better your nervous system works. Your mystical abilities have a better foundation.
  • It is important to find balance. If one part of your life is out of balance, try to find balance in another area of your life.
  • It is important to practise healthy detachment to stay open and flexible. Staying open-minded is a powerful practice in mindfulness and spirituality, and it can enhance your intuition. Remember, your higher self is guiding you. Trust it. Being rigid can shut down or block our intuition. Go with the flow and use this affirmation “THIS or something BETTER” when manifesting. What you think might be good for you, might not be what the universe has in store for your highest good so don’t get upset when things didn’t exactly work out the way you wished for.
  • Remember to “feel” your emotions. Observe where you are feeling them. Where are they located in your body and what does that part of your body represent? Know that emotions are “energy in motion” and they come and go so let them be there, to be felt, to be brought up till they leave again.
